‘Service of man is the worship of God,’ is the essence of the life and teachings of the great Himalayan saint H.H.Sri Swami Sivananda Saraswati Maharaj of Rishikesh, the founder of the International Divine Life Society.In the footsteps of this great master, there are many individuals, families and organizations are functioning through out India and world over for the past many decades.
Inspired by the life and teachings of the great Master, H.H.Sri Swami Sivananda Maharaj, and Swami Vimalananda (formerly known as K.Vanamamalai, hailing from a poor family of five brothers, two sisters and a widowed mother) took keen interest in propagating the teachings of his Guru. One of his sisters Mrs.T.K.Lakshmi got married with Mr.R.Sundaram and blessed with a daughter Ms.S.Padmasini and settled at Chennai. They started propagating and establishing the teachings of Gurudev and Divine Life Society branches all over the Chennai cities along with her elder brother of Swami Vimalananda.
At their home in Madhavaram Milk Colony, the first Divine life Society branch of Chennai was born.Many important functions were held there, in which many dignitaries like Dr. Krishnaswamy Reddy (Chief justice Madras High court), Dr Prabhudas Patwari Governor of Tamilnadu, Swami Vishnudevananda and others visited and blessed spiritual activities.Sivananda Yoga Kendra:
In the foot steps of Swami Sivananda and his prime disciple Swami Vishnu Devananda who is also known as “Flying Swamiji”, Sivananda Yoga Kendra was started to spread the message of leading a Blissful life by practicing yoga in everyday life and following the mission of Swami Vishnu-devananda through T.W.O. (True World Order), which aims at promoting world peace and understanding.
In the footsteps of her Mother in law, Mr.A.K.Srinivasan, B.Sc., PGDMM, MDBA, MBA-ADAM SMITH UNIVERSITY-US, SPECIALIST IN YOGA and STRESS MANAGEMENT, YOGA SIROMANI – awarded by TTC-YOGA –The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, HQ-Sivananda Ashram Yoga Camp, Val Morin, Quebec Jot 2RO, Canada, Son-in-law of T.K.Lakshmi is the Director of Sivananda Yoga Kendra, which is fully involved in giving yoga training to Individuals, Groups and Corporate.
